CNPC is now stepping up its efforts in building gas storage bases in Jiangsu Province, including sources of salt mines, oil pool and LNG, Huang Junze, general manager of the CNPC's subsidiary in charge of the pipelines of the West-East natural gas transmission project said Tuesday.

Huang said that there are currently two gas reserve bases along the first line of the West-East natural gas transmission project: a salt mine named Jintan in south Jiangsu, and an oil pool in the northern part of the province. The salt reserves are able to produce an average of 2 to 3 million cubic meters of natural gas a day, Huang said. He also predicted that production capacity will extend to 300 million cubic meters by 2020.
