China produced 7.62-billion cubic meters (Gm3) of natural gas in April of 2010, up by 11.7% from the same month of last year, according to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics. It's the third straight month that the output rose by double-digit figure.
However, the output was down by 8.6% on a month on month basis. Judging from historical data, the production was not low, and the on-month drop was due to sharp gain in March, C1 reckoned.
Xinjiang was the biggest production area with 2.03-Gm3 of output, following by Shaanxi and Sichuan provinces, which reported 1.86 Gm3 and 1.64 Gm3, respectively. NBS data also showed that the gas yield in the first four months totaled 31.89-billion cubic meters, up by 13.1% on a year on year basis.
