Statoil Drills For New Gas
    Statoil, the Norwegian state-owned oil major reported on Wednesday that it started drilling at the Alpha North gas field in the North Sea.
    The estimated reserves in the field are 42.6 Bcf of gas and 32 million bbl of condensate.
    The production should start in October 2004. State Oil is the operator of the field with a 49.5 percent interest. Exxon Mobil possesses a 32.24 stake, Total a 9.41 percent stake and Norsk Hydro a 8.85 percent stake.
