Delmarva Power is asking Delaware's Public Service Commission to approve an increase in its natural gas cost rates.
The commission was to hold a public hearing Friday morning on the proposed rate modification.
Delmarva filed an application last year seeking to increase its gas cost rates for the 2010-2011 year. Under the proposal, the monthly bill for an average residential customer would increase by about 10 cents.
Delmarva Power has said the requested modification is the result of falling short on collections by about $25 million during the previous winter.
